Project Overview

PICMA was awarded a contract to establish a Project Management Office (PMO) in Malawi that would support the implementation of Malawi’s Master Supply Chain Transformation Plan (MSCTP). The activities included employing a team of six technical specialists to work side-by-side with the Health Technology Support Services (HTSS), a directorate within Malawi’s MOH.

The PMO is responsible for several strategic activities including revising the MSCTP and inserting an M&E framework to monitor its implementation, reviewing the current state of implementation of the MSCTP to determine barriers to implementation which will be used to inform risk mitigation, conducting two regional study tours to learn what is possible in other African countries (Zambia and Ghana), the development of the logistics management unit (LMU) blueprint for Malawi. As well as supporting quarterly field trips to review the maintenance and conditions of health product storage and of medical devices uptime and general working condition.
